ENGINEERING SERVICES   FITNESS FOR SERVICE

The Registered Professional Engineers at Premier NDT can complete Fitness-for-Service (FFS) evaluations on new or existing equipment.  Using a multi-disciplinary engineering and inspection approach the engineer evaluates the structural integrity of components to determine fitness for continued service.  The evaluation typically includes a corrosion rate and estimated remaining life determination.  Repair and damage mechanism remediation may also be included.

Premier NDT has substantial FFS assessment experience related to the evaluation and rating of pressure retaining equipment in the energy industry.  The evaluation includes both damage to code equipment (ASME, API, etc.) and assessment of non-code equipment using API 579-1/ASME FFS-1, ASME Section VIII, Division 1 and 2, NBIC, and many API standards.

Typical evaluations include assessments for:

  • Brittle fracture
  • General and local corrosion, including pitting
  • Crack-like flaws
  • Dents and gouges
  • Fatigue
  • Repair / Alteration
  • Non-Code Vessel
  • Fire Exposure

Applications

  • Fired heaters
  • Reformers

  • Pipelines
  • Boiler Tubes and Drums
  • Pipe Headers
